Cake Baking shortcuts – banana cupcakes

Cake Baking shortcuts – banana cupcakes

I was supposed to visit a lady for morning tea today, but unfortunately (due to reasons beyond my control – i.e. my husband) I was unable to make it.   It may have been a good thing because I haven’t had time to make anything to take and I always feel bad turning up empty handed. In the past, this has been one of my biggest challenges.. baked goods in a hurry.  Now, we live in a … Read entire article »

I collected the New Year’s Resolution {printables}, so you don’t have to.

I collected the New Year’s Resolution {printables}, so you don’t have to.

Found some great printables around the web for New Years Resolutions.. here they are! Great kids printable / keepsake.  Would be great to have these for every year! Beautiful lists from “love from the oven”, they come in a range of colours too!  Just print them out and frame them up! I love these ones from Today’s Fabulous finds, even though they aren’t really Australia friendly! These sayings are great… I should add some of them to my “House … Read entire article »

OMGWTF New Years Resolutions Posters

OMGWTF New Years Resolutions Posters

Nothing is safe from Martha. Nothing.  Not even the humble new years resolution. Apparently these days, it’s the “done thing” to print your new years resolutions out in some scrapbook like fashion and pin them up somewhere you can see them.  Now.. I hate scrapbooking.  Actually that isn’t true – I hate the fact I don’t have any motivation to do scrapbooking in any way, shape or form.  I can certainly appreciate the skill and beauty of … Read entire article »

OMGWTF FMPs

OMGWTF FMPs

According to a Martha-esque friend on facebook FMPs, for “the uninitiated” means Fruit Mince Pies.  And now I find out that I should have been making FMPs and gingerbread houses with my kids.  I’m still trying to work out what a gingerbread house has to do with Christmas.   Been thinking about it on and off for a few weeks, actually.. and nothing.  Absolutely nothing. So now I’m in a double bind.  Here were my facebook … Read entire article »

OMGWTF First birthday cake.

OMGWTF First birthday cake.

Well I’ve had a few disasters of days over the last week or so. And a couple of wins too, I think. First off.. it was my baby’s first birthday party.  And this meant birthday cake.  I think I have some kind of cake making phobia.  There is a lot of pressure on SAHMs to come up with the perfect cake for their little one.  People even have “cake trials” to make sure that whatever they serve … Read entire article »

Automagic – trying to automate my house

Automagic – trying to automate my house

At the moment I’m trying to automate my house.  I figure that the more things can take care of themselves, the more I can do Marthaesque looking things. The first thing I’m going to try is an automatic feeder for our rabbit.  Pets are great.  Martha has pet.. I’m pretty sure.  You can’t really have the whole picket-fence scenario without an animal.  We happened to come across a rabbit by accident, and now 5 years on, … Read entire article »

Perfect Christmas Puddings.

Perfect Christmas Puddings.

That bastion of social norms – facebook – alerted me to the fact that as a good SAHM, I should be thinking about making my own Christmas pudding.  Many of the women I’m friends with commented on their pudding-making endeavours, and there is, apparently, at least half a ton of dried fruit soaking in some kind of alcohol at various points around Sydney as I type. Last year I made some frozen ice-cream pudding thing that everybody hated (well, *I* … Read entire article »
